As an alternative to the classics, mix things up Taiwanese-style at Win Son Bakery, which fires out an array of sweet and savory treats, to nibble on the small terrace out front or to take away without delay. Our top tips for younger appetites? The chocolate bao, the mochi donut (seeing is believing!), the famous scallion pancakes with eggs, bacon, and cheese, as well as the egg sando. This eatery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is arguably home to the best slices in the whole of town. Their secret? A sauce made from Bianco Di Napoli tomatoes, dough fermented cold for three days, and – most importantly – lots of amore! If the kids aren’t sure, set their sights on the classic with a tomato sauce base, mozzarella, burrata, and basil – Big Apple-style! And if they’re good, they might be allowed an Italian gelato for dessert…
